FAQ — your questions answered
Everything you need to know about listing your skills on WakaWork and finding trusted professionals near you.
General
What is WakaWork?
WakaWork is a digital platform that enhances how skills and expertise are showcased and how service needs are efficiently met. It gives skilled service providers visibility while making it easier for individuals and businesses to discover the right expertise.
Who can join WakaWork?
WakaWork is open to artisans, professionals, freelancers and skilled technicians, as well as individuals and businesses looking for reliable services.
Where is WakaWork available?
WakaWork is available across Nigeria. You can search by state and city, and we continue to expand coverage as more providers join in each community.
Do I need an app to use WakaWork?
No. WakaWork is a mobile-friendly website that works in any browser on your phone, tablet or computer — there is nothing to download.
For service providers
Why should I join WakaWork?
Joining gives you visibility, a professional profile to showcase your work, credibility through verification, and a direct line to clients searching for your service in your area.
How do I register?
Create an account with your email address and confirm the one-time code we send you. Then complete your profile: your details, one main service category with as many subcategories as you offer, your location, and at least one photo or logo.
What is the difference between Basic and Pro?
Basic is free. Your profile is listed publicly, but it appears below Pro providers in search, is limited to 3 portfolio photos and 3 quote requests a month, has no verified badge, and clients reach you through the quote form rather than a direct call button.
Pro costs ₦4,999 per year. You get top placement in search, unlimited portfolio photos and quote requests, the verified badge, direct call and WhatsApp buttons on your profile, and your website and social links (with a followed link to your site).
Why should I upgrade to Pro?
Pro is an investment in visibility. Ranking above free listings, showing a verified badge and letting clients call you directly makes you far easier to choose. One genuine job usually earns far more than the annual fee.
Does WakaWork take commission from my jobs?
No. WakaWork does not take any commission from your earnings. Whatever you agree with your client belongs entirely to you.
Why do I need to verify my profile?
Verification builds trust. It confirms that the information on your profile is authentic, and it is what earns you the verified badge that clients look for.
What documents are required for verification?
Depending on your trade or profession you may be asked for:
• Government-issued identification
• A passport photograph
• Proof of address (where applicable)
• Professional or trade certifications (if applicable)
• Business registration documents (where applicable)
Are my verification documents visible to the public?
No. Verification documents are stored privately and are only accessible to the WakaWork verification team for review. They never appear on your public profile. Only your logo, portfolio photos and the details you choose to publish are shown to clients.
Can I offer more than one service?
Yes. You choose one main category that best describes your trade, then select as many subcategories as you actually offer. Your profile and search listings show all of them.
Can I update my profile and change my public link?
You can update your details, services, location, contact information, logo and portfolio at any time from your dashboard. Your public profile link can be changed once, so choose carefully.
How do clients contact me?
Clients send a quote request from your profile — we notify you by SMS and email with their message and contact details, and it also appears in your dashboard. Pro providers additionally show call and WhatsApp buttons so clients can reach them instantly.
Can I pause or cancel my subscription?
Your Pro subscription runs for one year and is subject to WakaWork's subscription policy. If you do not renew, your profile simply reverts to the free Basic listing — it is not deleted.
I registered with only a phone number — what do I do now?
Sign in on the Phone tab of the sign-in page using your phone number and password (or request a code by SMS if you need to reset it), then add and confirm your email address when prompted. From 20 October 2026 an email address is required to keep using your account.
For service seekers
How do I find a service provider?
Search by the service you need and your location, or browse the category tiles on the home page. Review the profiles, portfolios and reviews, then contact the provider that suits you best.
Is WakaWork free for clients?
Yes. Searching, browsing profiles and sending quote requests are completely free for clients.
Can I contact a service provider directly?
Yes. Pro providers show call and WhatsApp buttons on their profile. For all providers you can send a quote request and they will reach out to you directly.
How do I request a quote?
Open a provider's profile and use the "Request a quote" button. Describe the job and leave your name, phone number and email — the provider receives it immediately by SMS and email.
Does WakaWork guarantee the quality of work?
While WakaWork promotes verified profiles and encourages professionalism, the final agreement and execution of the work remain between the service provider and the client.
Can businesses use WakaWork?
Yes. Businesses of all sizes use WakaWork to find skilled professionals and artisans for projects, maintenance and ongoing service needs.
How do I leave a review?
After working with a provider, visit their public profile and leave a rating and review. Honest feedback helps other clients and keeps the community accountable.
Payments & subscription
How do I pay for my subscription?
Pay online by card, bank transfer or USSD through our secure checkout during setup or from your dashboard. Your Pro benefits activate as soon as the payment is confirmed.
Can I pay by bank transfer?
Yes. You can choose the manual bank transfer option and send your proof of payment. Our team confirms it and activates your Pro listing.
How do payments for jobs work?
WakaWork only collects the ₦4,999 annual Pro subscription. All payments for actual jobs are arranged directly between you and your client — WakaWork does not hold funds or process job payments.
Is my subscription refundable?
Subscription fees are generally non-refundable except where provided under WakaWork's Refund Policy.
How do I renew?
We remind you before your year ends, and you can renew for ₦4,999 from your dashboard at any time. If you don't renew, your listing continues on the free Basic tier.

How does WakaWork promote trust?
We encourage profile verification, display verified badges and reviews, maintain platform standards, and continuously improve our processes to build confidence among users.
Does WakaWork guarantee the identity, conduct or performance of any user?

Users are encouraged to exercise good judgment before entering into any engagement.
What safety precautions should I take before engaging a provider or client?

Does WakaWork participate in agreements or payments between users?

What should I do if I suspect fraud or inappropriate behaviour?
Discontinue the engagement if necessary and report the incident to WakaWork through our support channels. We may review reported accounts and take action under our Terms of Use, but users remain responsible for protecting their own interests and, where necessary, reporting criminal matters to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
How does WakaWork protect my personal information?
WakaWork implements reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to safeguard personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable laws. Verification documents are kept private. Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials and should avoid sharing sensitive personal or financial information unnecessarily.
What happens if there is a dispute?
Service providers and service seekers are expected to resolve disputes directly between themselves. WakaWork is not responsible for the quality of services, contractual obligations, payments, losses, damages or disputes arising from engagements between users. Where appropriate, WakaWork may review reports of misconduct or violations of its Terms of Use and take administrative action on user accounts, but it does not act as an arbitrator or guarantor of transactions.
